National Dance Week 2014 Events! March 27, 2014

We are happy to announce our events for National Dance Week 2014 – Friday, April 25th-Sunday, May 4th. Please see a list of ongoing and individual events below. We are offering events for all ages and abilities! Click “read more” below.

Ongoing National Dance Week Activities:

National Dance Week Poster Contest: Design a poster that follows the theme, “My Favorite Dance Memory.”  These posters will be displayed around our school for everyone to see during National Dance week. Everyone who participates in this event will get a prize and the winning posters will receive a special award!

Eligible Participants: All Students

Dates: Posters are due the first day of National Dance Week – Saturday, April 25th.

National Dance Week Canned Food Drive: Bring in your canned goods to donate to someone in need. Collection bins will be located at the front of our Arlington location.

Company members will share some of their dances and then invite Early Years students to do a group activity/dance together. Please RSVP here.
Movie and Pizza Night! Friday,April 25th 7:30 pm to 9:30pmBlack BoxARL location All Intensive Students and Dance Company Members  (from all 4 dance companies) Come and enjoy a dance or musical theater film with many of your friends! Please RSVP here by Wednesday,  April 23rd.
Fancy Nancy Camp Activity Event  Saturday,April 26th 9:00am to 11:00amLavender StudioARL location All Early Years Students (Little Elves, Little Fairies, Dancing Princesses and Tiny Ballerinas) Bring your young student to enjoy a fun craft, story, music, and picture in costume. A promotional discount for our Summer camps will be offered to those students that participate in this activity. Students are not required to RSVP for this event. Just stop by and enjoy!
Adult Latin Aerobics Class Saturday,April 26th 5:30-6:15pmBlack BoxARL location All Adult Students and Parents Join us for this high energy, 45-minute class and enjoy the movement and rhythms of Latin dance as well as get a good workout! Please RSVP for this event here.
Company Danzante performance with trainees Saturday,April 26th 6:30- 7:15pmBlack Box TheaterARL location All Students, Adult Students and Parents See the Company Danzante dancers perform works by Mr. Arturo, Ms. Kyoko, and Ms. Rachael along with some of Adagio Ballet’s very special guest high school student trainees. Hip Hop Master Class Sunday,April 27th 1:00-2:00pmBlack BoxARL location All Students Ages 6 and Up Take a high-energy hip-hop master class taught by Ms. Rachel!  Younger students may feel challenged, but it’s worth a try. Please RSVP here.
Student Choreography Competition Sunday,April 27th 3:30-4:30pm (ages  7-10)4:45-5:45pm (ages 11+)Black BoxARL location All Students ages 7 and Up Students are invited to show their love of dance by choreographing an original ballet, jazz, tap, modern or lyrical piece to their choice of music and showing the piece in our Arlington location’s Black Box Theater with professional lighting and sound. All participants will receive a prize and winners will receive a special award. Please RSVP at the Arlington location front desk.*Additional Rules and Guidelines for the NDW Choreography Competition:1) Pieces may include up to four dancers.2) Student choreography must be done entirely by students; no help from teachers or parents is permitted.3) Students must provide all costumes and props.4) Students must register at the front desk two weeks prior to participate.

5) Students can collaborate with other students from Adagio or outside friends.

6)  Students must provide music on an iPod device for performance.

7)  The maximum length of the piece should be one minute.
