National Dance Week April 22-May 1 April 15, 2016

Adagio Ballet is excited to participate in another year of National Dance Week! We will join with studios and dance organizations across the country to promote dance in this ten day celebration. Adagio will be offering FREE classes and activities open to dance lovers of all ages in the Northern Virginia community. Whether you are a current student of Adagio or this is your first experience with dance, we have something for you!

We are excited to have DC Casineros come and give a salsa master class for adults on Saturday, April 23 from 4:00-5:00pm. If you have always wanted to try salsa this is the perfect time to try! This will be followed by a Happy Hour at Thirsty Bernie’s where participants in National Dance Week will get a discount on food and appetizers.

At 6:30 come back to the studio for a special Emerging Choreographer Showcase Performed by Company Danzante. This is a family-friendly performance that will showcase the work of Rachael Mauney. Company dancers will be joined by student apprentice dancers from Adagio Dance Company.

On Sunday, April 24 at 10:00am we have an exciting program for children ages 3-6. Storytelling through Dance will be a one hour interactive workshop of why and how young children experience storytelling and narrative. Adagio’s Black Box theatre will come to life as princesses, birds, and magical characters fill up the stage. Children will compare the traditions of the classical Indian Dance, Bharatanatyam, presented by Kalashree (Master of the Art) Maya Zalova-Kanwar and the classical ballet story, Firebird, presented by Adagio Ballet’s Master-teacher in Early Years Dance Program through interactive storytelling. A must-do experience for all creative, imaginative young children!
