Our ballet, junior, and jazz/contemporary divisions all participated and did an outstanding job.

The ballet division kicked off the night with a solo performed by Erin Barth, a variation from Giselle that she competed at YAGP. Then came the “Radetsky March,” a highly amusing performance and pantomime by the younger members. The older girls did a beautiful job with “Voices of Spring,” surprising the audience with their flowery formations.

Katherine Newcomb also performed a solo from YAGP, a variation from Diana and Actaeon, and the division finished off with an encore performance of “The Blue Danube,” a piece that was modified and re-staged from last spring. The dancing was gorgeous and the costumes made a lovely impression.

The junior division performed “Jewel Heart,” a short story ballet about two dolls. Ellie and Mia were adorable as Gemino and Pavelle, and Ashley made a phenomenal Shadow Spirit.  The wind, birds, and chipmunks were equally delightful. The whole section was charming and highly amusing, and it was a huge hit with the audience.

The jazz company performed a series of dances called “Words of Love.” The piece follows a young girl through the stages of her childhood. It began with Rachel Rushing saying her nightly prayers before moving into a beautiful lyrical section. After the lyrical, we transitioned to another age and followed Addy Colwell through a complex contemporary piece. Through this we see Serena Marks and then Page Halstead as the next stages and follow the group into a fast-paced jazz/hip-hop piece featuring Janae Holster. The soloists took over soon after with another contemporary section showing Helen Weierbach in the final stage of her childhood. The division wrapped up their group piece with an upbeat jazz number, “Great Times.”

The ADC soloists wrapped up the night with their performance of “The Curse,” which moved into Valerie Biggs’ solo “Rhythmic Moods,” and Savanna Hunter’s solo “Look Alike,” both competed at YAGP.

We are very proud of our company, and we look forward to seeing what they have in store for this spring, when we’ll put on The Broken Doll, Coppelia, and At the Pillow! Be sure to check back for more information on ADC performances.
