Adagio Ballet’s Spring Concert a Success! May 19, 2015

On Sunday, our older group of dancers showcased all their hard work throughout the Spring Session in our wonderful Spring Concert. Our show consisted of two sections, At the Pillow, featuring our Jazz, Modern and Tap classes, followed by Adagio’s version of Coppelia.

At the pillow followed the story of a dancer as she was inspired to pursue her dream of becoming a professional dancer after attending a performance at the dance festival “Jacob’s Pillow”

Our Jazz, Tap and Modern students delighted the audience with their performances, showing off their skills and showmanship through their dances. The ADC Modern/Jazz company also impressed the audience with their energetic and upbeat performance.

As the last dance finished and the curtain closed, our Ballet students waited  eagerly for their chance to perform. Backstage was a flurry of set and costume changes as the students prepared to take the audience through the enchanting story of Coppelia.

As the first act begins, we meet Dr. Coppelius, Coppelia, Franz and Swanhilda, played by our students Katherine Newcomb, Erin Barth, Kate Erath and Caroline Kassir. The stage is set as the comic story of a dancing doll begins.

As our dancers took us through this love story, our intensive students delighted us through their portrayals of different dolls in the second act, and the happy celebration at the festival in the third and final act.

As Franz and Swanhilda end up happily ever after, the ADC Ballet Division gave us an enchanting finale, as they whirled across the stage in the Waltz of the Hours.

We are proud of all the hard work and dedication our students have put in to creating such a successful and wonderful show! As, this show ends, Adagio prepares for it’s next performance, in June, featuring our younger students in ‘The Broken Doll.”
