How to Place Your Child in a Class |
|
If you are new to Adagio Ballet and need assistance in determining your child's Dance Level, please fill out our New Student Contact Form and we will get back to you shortly.
We recommend that you plan on placing your child in the same class for
the entire school year, so they will bond with the other students in
their class. Our curriculum is designed as a full year syllabus. We
accept registrations throughout the year but as a general rule, each
student should complete three semesters at their level before
progressing to the next one.
For Early Years Levels
- (Little Elves, Little Fairies, Dancing Princesses, Tiny Ballerinas,
Beginning Ballet I and Beginning Jazz I), the age generally determines
the class that is most appropriate. These levels are designed for
students from 21/2 to 7 years old.
For intermediate and advanced levels, prior dance experience determines placement. A trial class is often required. Please Contact Our Office for more information on placement in these levels.
You are welcome to schedule a Free Trial Class for your child
regardless of the level. Availability in many classes is limited. If
you wish to schedule a trial class, please Contact Our Office

Please arrive prepared to dance 5 minutes prior to classes. Parents
should expect that classes will begin and end on time, in order for the
following classes to take advantage of the waiting area and parking
spaces.
Each student should follow the Dress Code
for their classes. Please have your snack and visit the bathroom before
class. Parents please help your students focus on dancing before their
class - this how they will benefit the most from it.
Parents
may observe the classes by either watching through the glass door of
the smaller classroom or the televised monitor for the larger classroom
at the Arlington location. Parent demonstration days are typically
scheduled for the final (or in some cases, the second to last) week of
each session. Please bring your cameras and come in the studio to
applaud the progress that students had made during the session.
Teachers
are often available for a few short questions and answers in between
classes. Any assistance you may need that would require more time will
be best handled during office hours, or via email or phone.
Please
rely on your teacher's advice for level placement and advancement. Our
teachers are seasoned professionals experienced in both teaching and
dance technique. They also started learning dance from a very young age
and they know what's right for the students. As parents we are often
very ambitious about our children's progress in any activity, but dance
does take a long time to learn and trying to rush through levels often
has an adverse effect on them psychologically and diminishes their joy
from this life-long lasting experience.

Dancers, please arrive at Adagio Ballet in your street
shoes, to protect your dancing shoes and studio floors from dirt and
damage. Change to your dancing shoes in the waiting area. Please follow
the Dress Code.
If a student forgets his or her dance shoes, we do have loaner basket
with dance shoes, which the student may borrow for the class. Any
special toys or other items may "wait" for the student in the waiting
area during dance class.
If you require
any dance clothing or shoes, please plan on arriving a bit earlier for
your class so that there is enough time to get and put on your apparel
before class time.
