Ms. Jessica Melville Goodin began dancing at age 3 in Rockford, IL. She attended Auburn High
School’s Creative And Performing Arts program where she studied dance and
visual art. In 2000, Jessica founded her first dance company with two dear
friends, producing several evening length dance concerts.
Jessica received
her Bachelors of Arts in Dance and Arts Technology at Illinois State University
under the direction of Laurie Merriman and Sara Semonis. While at ISU, Jessica
performed with and choreographed for the Illinois State Dance Theatre and was an
active member of the Illinois State Dance Association. Jessica received several
scholarships for her artistic and academic work at ISU, including numerous
Friends of the Arts Awards, The Williams Family Scholarship, and designation as
a Bone Student Scholar. She also presented her choreographic process at the
school’s Undergraduate Research Symposium in 2005.
Jessica began teaching
dance while in undergrad through pedagogy classes and at Victory Academy in
Bloomington, IL. These experiences influenced her to pursue a career sharing the
inspiring power of dance through dance education, dance performance, and dance
therapy.
She is currently finishing her thesis for her Master’s Degree
in Dance/Movement Therapy & Counseling from Columbia College Chicago. Jessica
is a member of Dance/USA and the American Dance Therapy Association.
Jessica
performed with and choreographed for several dance companies in Chicago
including The Core Project, where she helped found an outreach program directed
at fostering empowerment through the arts.
Ms. Jessica is excited to be in
Northern Virginia, and eager to share her love of dance with the students at
