Guidelines and Expectations |
|
With over 300 students participating in each annual
recital, it is very important that all of our parents follow several
guidelines to make our dress rehearsal and performance day work as
smoothly as possible.
Come to the Dress Rehearsal
The dress rehearsal is an essential element of our Annual Recital.
Taking place the day before, it is a time for our dancers to orient
themselves to the "big stage" and to feel more at ease when they dance
the next day. It is also important for the Adagio Ballet staff to
coordinate the technical elements such as lighting, scene changes, and
transitions to make the performance a success the next day. We have two
dress rehearsals, one each for the morning and afternoon performances.
Please check back here closer to the performance date for the exact
schedule of this year’s dress rehearsals.
Stay the Duration of the Recital
Please plan on staying for the duration of the dress rehearsal (on Saturday) and performance (on Sunday). It is crucial to have all of our dancers in place and on time for both days. We
will not rehearse in the exact order as the performance and photos will
also be taken during the dress rehearsal, so planning on coming "just
for your child's dance" will not work. Likewise, it is
extremely disruptive to have people coming and going during our
recital, so we ask that all guests arrive on time and stay through to
the finale, when all performers will again take the stage.
Come Prepared
Your child will have a specific costume and dress requirements for their class that will be distributed in advance. Please
prepare a special bag to contain these contents, so you can easily
bring them on the day of the dress rehearsal and again for the recital. If
you have any small children that will not be able to sit for several
hours for either day, please arrange a play date or babysitter so you
can focus on your performer. Bringing snacks and any small books and games may be helpful during any "down time" for your dancer during the dress rehearsal.
Treat this as a special weekend - because it is!
Regardless
of whether your dancer is on the stage for the very first time or is a
seasoned performer, this is still a special day for him or her and
should be treated as such. Anything you can do to support your performer and help ease any tensions and make them feel more special is greatly encouraged. Please see "how to prepare your dancers" for more ideas.
Thank
you for helping our Annual Recital work as seamlessly as possible and
for helping us create "Grace and Memories for Life" for you and your families!
