Dance Team Modern Camp

This camp is designedespecially for students aged 10-15.  If you are a dancer who wants to know whatit feels like to be on a dance team, this camp is definitely for you!  Thecamp offers unforgettable summer experiences for dancers who are interested inrefining their Modern/Contemporary technique, improving it fast, and testing howquickly they can learn contemporary choreography. The students will practicetheir auditioning skills through mock auditions for a dance team, a dancecompany, and a competition show. They will strengthen their ability to pick upand memorize combinations and different styles in a short time frame and learnhow to stand out in a crowded audition. Dancers will work together in their Dance Team to create an excitingshow and group choreography piece.  Theywill audition for different dance roles where they will be selected to performshort solos or duets in different styles. They will be challenged to strive forthe ultimate performance and share the excitement with their camp friends. Theywill test their creativity and determination in ‘Dance for your Life’ timedimprovisations.

With Adagio Ballet’s new state-of-the-art Black Box Theater, students will have the unique opportunity totransform their dances into a stage performance! The students will learn aboutthe elements of stage production and help prepare the lighting, props, andcostumes for the unforgettable show.  Atthe end of the camp the families and friends will be invited to be the LiveAudience for the Black Box Theater performance. 

The camp consists of a level appropriate modern technique class,exercises and techniques for memorizing choreography faster, improvisation andcomposition time to create individual ‘dazzling’ dance combinations, andtechniques and tips for unforgettable performance quality. The Students willmake new friends during craft and snack time (Juice & Healthy Snackprovided) while they work on designing their own team costume, banners, andprograms to be used at the end of the week performance.

This camp willhelp aspiring dancers to deepen their passion for dance, develop a betterunderstanding of the dance technique and the dance audition/performanceprocess. They will cooperate and share with other dancers. The students willprogress at a faster rate as they prepare for their continued training in thefall.
