Choreographer's Workshop

This full day campwill focus on dance composition, improvisation techniques, and productionelements to help guide the creative impulse into a formative structured dancecomposition.  Students will be coached inthe movement exploration process and then guided through the development of thechoreographic work, which will evolve and culminate in a work-in-progressshowing on the final day of the camp. Students will take technique classes in Ballet, Modern, and Jazz as wellas body conditioning, and improvisation. Music theory will be taught throughout the week to help the youngchoreographers recognize musical phrasing with their music selections for theirpiece.  Students will keep a journal tohelp capture their daily inspirations and will travel to a museum and outdoorparks to observe and gather material for their dance.  The choreographers will design their lights,costumes, and programs and will perform their choreography in Adagio Ballet’sBlack Box Theater for their family and friends.
