Boys Ballet 4
9 - 10.7 years
Boys who are interested in dance can explore the world of ballet in class specifically designed for boys. The skills learned in our boys' program transcend the art of dance and assist students in any physical activity or sport requiring physical endurance, flexibility, as well as the quick learning of physical movement.
The boys' ballet class introduces dance as a physically beneficial activity as well as an art form. Boys build strength, muscle tone, flexibility, stamina, balance and coordination through a series of ballet movements and exercises. Additionally, the boys learn to express themselves artistically in dance by learning musicality and acting skills. While learning how to dance with power and strength, boys also learn to cooperate with other dancers and to behave as "gentlemen" in class by learning ballet etiquette and manners.
Based on the Vaganova method of teaching ballet, our boys' program contains a curriculum hand-picked to develop male dancers and to strengthen both their bodies and minds. Special emphasis is placed on jumping with height and power, to develop leg strength.
Movements introduced: arm positions for turns and pirouettes, battement tendu and tendu jete in epaulement ecarte, developpe in epaulement efface and croise, attitude, double frappe, entrechat quatre, pas de basque and saut de basque, Pique turns, Saute en tournant, Pas jete en tournant
