Boys Ballet (6-9)
Boys who are
interested in dance may now explore the world of ballet in their own
specially-designed class at Adagio Ballet. The skills learned in our
boys' program transcend the art of dance and will assist our students
in any physical activity or sport requiring physical endurance,
flexibility, and the fast learning of physical movement.
The boys' ballet class introduces dance as a
physically beneficial activity as well as an art form. Boys will build
strength, muscle tone, flexibility, stamina, balance and coordination
through a series of ballet movements and exercises. Boys will also
learn to express themselves artistically in dance by learning
musicality, acting skills, and dancing with power and strength. Boys
will also learn to cooperate with other dancers and how to behave as
"gentlemen" in class by learning ballet etiquette and manners.
Based on the Vaganova Method of teaching ballet, our
boys' program contains a curriculum hand-picked to develop male dancers
and to strengthen both their bodies and minds. Special emphasis is
made on jumping with height and power, to develop leg strength.
Movements introduced: arm positions (first,
second, third), plies, tendus, releve, tendu jete, releve lents, grande
battement, frappe, temps leve, echappe, changement, assemble, jete,
glissade, sissonne, pas de chat.
